Ōtorohanga District Council has adopted its 2026/27 Annual Plan, with a rates increase of 6.94% - lower than the 8.18% increase signalled through the Long Term Plan.
Mayor Rodney Dow says Council worked hard to balance the need to invest in essential services while keeping costs as manageable as possible for ratepayers.
"Nobody likes rates going up, and we know times are tough. Our job is to make sure we're spending ratepayers' money wisely while still looking after all the services our community expects. Getting the increase down from what we originally forecast is a good result, and one we're pleased to be able to deliver."
The Annual Plan confirms Council's work programme and budget for the coming year, continuing investment in the services, facilities and infrastructure that support our district now and into the future.
