Through the Government’s Waste Levy (a charge applied to wastes put in landfills), Ōtorohanaga District Council provides a series of Community Events throughout 2026 to share knowledge from recycling and sustainability experts, help you save items from landfill and offer opportunities to learn new skills. Household Chemical and Electrical Goods Drop-off Events - EARLY 2027
Following the success of our previous drop-off events in Kāwhia and Ōtorohanga, we are organising our next events for early 2027 (likely to be March). These are perfect for getting rid of old and unwanted chemicals, paints, solvents, oils and household chemicals, pesticides and herbicides, fungicides and insecticides. FOOD LOVERS MASTERCLASS - CHRISTMAS EDITION: 10 November Kāwhia 6.30-8pm Community Hall. 11 November Ōtorohanga 6.30-8pm Library. Details: Kate is returning to the District to share with us tips on all things food, waste and recycling.
