WATER AND WASTEWATER PIPE REPLACEMENT WORKS – MAIN NORTH ROAD AND SURROUNDING AREAS

Ōtorohanga District Council has engaged Offshore Plumbing Services (OPS) of New Plymouth to replace ageing water supply and sewer lines in several parts of the Ōtorohanga community. The first stage of this project begins on Main North Road.

What’s happening on Main North Road

The existing water main between Trios Main Road Dairy and Thomson Avenue has been identified as nearing end-of-life and will now be replaced. All work will occur on the dairy side of the road.

Initial site investigations to locate existing services will begin around 3 December. Physical works are planned to start in the second week of December and are expected to take up to six working weeks, with a pause over the Christmas period.

Access, property connections and pedestrian impacts

Some residents and businesses may experience temporary access disruptions or impacts when properties are connected to the new line. OPS will contact affected properties directly.

Where footpaths or walkways are impacted, the contractor will provide safe alternative routes.

Work hours and what to expect

OPS will generally operate Monday to Friday, 7am–6pm.
Occasional weekend work may occur only when necessary.

Modern machinery and established worksite health and safety practices will be used to minimise noise and disruption.

Please take care around work sites

If work is happening near your property, please take extra care around machinery, open trenches and other hazards. We ask parents and caregivers to ensure children understand the dangers and stay clear of active construction areas.
