Today marks Mayor Max Baxter’s final day in office, and what a ride it’s been.
After 15 years of service, 12 of those wearing the mayoral chains, Max leaves behind a legacy built on community, good humour and a knack for turning even the toughest debates into a laugh. From paddocks to Parliament, from potholes to playgrounds, he’s led with heart, honesty and more than a few good yarns along the way.
Max once said leadership was about empowering others, and that’s exactly what he’s done. Under his watch, our district has seen new facilities, big ideas and a council culture that’s proud and people focused - just like him.
Thank you Max for your years of service, your belief in Ōtorohanga and your willingness to front up, speak straight and keep us all smiling.
You’ve done us proud.
