The second pop-up event of the year was a great success, held at the Kiwitown Piston Festival at Island Reserve on Saturday, 8th February, thanks to Councillor Roy Johnson. Positioned near the children’s face painting and Go-Karts, the booth attracted plenty of attention, especially with Buzzy Bee making an appearance before his well needed TLC session in the ‘doctors’ - story to follow.
The event provided an excellent opportunity to engage with the community, with over 100 engaging interactions throughout the day. Highlights included the Rates Rebates service, where forms were distributed, and/or completed on-site. Many attendees expressed interest and were unaware of the service’s availability. Our safety merchandise are always well-received, particularly the tyre tread checkers.
Community queries included questions about portable cabin permits, which have been put forward to our building control team for further assistance.
The notable Council marquee provided shade for visitors, with many enjoying the local line dancing entertainment.
Overall, it was a positive event with strong community engagement. We thank Councilor Roy Johnson and everyone who contributed to its success and look forward to more opportunities to connect with the public.
