2025 STEM Term 4

Are your children interested in science, technology, engineering, or maths? Do they want to try new things in a hands-on, fun environment? Do they just love making stuff? Then they’ll love the Ōtorohanga Library’s STEM sessions!
We’re running STEM sessions on Monday and Thursday afternoons in Term 4, from 3.30pm – 4.30pm in the library programmes room.

2025 STEM Term 4

Mondays: Meccano  - Ages 10+

Build with metal construction parts and real tools. Learn to use nuts, bolts, allen keys, a screwdriver, a spanner, and a motor! Have a go assembling a working model of a crane, a catapult, or a windmill. We also have Meccano Junior kits you can borrow from the library!

Thursdays: Makey Makey Ages 7+

Programme everyday objects to turn them into touchpads, learn about conductivity, and code using Scratch. Some of the things we’ve made with Makey Makey include quiz buzzers, a giant piano, a working guitar, and a whole heap of different games! We also have a take-home Makey Makey kit you can borrow from the library!
