Free Insulation for Eligible Homeowners

Warm homes, healthy communities – thanks to Maru!

Free Insulation for Eligible Homeowners

Cold, damp homes can take a real toll on our health, wellbeing, and energy bills.

Maru Energy Trust, through its Warmer Kiwi Homes initiative, is on a mission to grow community wellbeing by creating warmer, healthier homes across our network area. By installing insulation and heating, Maru helps homeowners make their houses warm, dry, and energy efficient, lifting the overall health and spirit of our communities.

This work is made possible through a network of funders and supporters, including the Ōtorohanga District Council (ŌDC), which invests $30,000 each year to help Maru reach more homes in our district.

“A warm, dry home doesn’t just feel better, it can reduce whanau from getting mauiui(ill), improve comfort, and lower heating costs,” says ŌDC Economic Wellbeing Manager, Cheryl Reynolds. “They are there to make that possible for more local whanau.”

Maru offers FREE home insulation to qualifying homeowners. You may be eligible if:

  • You own and live in a home built before 2008

  • You have a Community Services Card or SuperGold Combo Card

  • You own and live in an area identified as low-income

  • You are referred by the Healthy Homes Initiative

  • You are in The Lines Company network

If you meet any of the above criteria, Maru can work with you to make your home warmer, drier, and healthier, at no cost for the insulation installation.

Why It Matters

Cold and damp homes are linked to respiratory illnesses, higher energy bills, and reduced comfort. Proper insulation helps keep warmth in during winter and heat out during summer, creating a healthier living environment for the whole family.
