After 25 years, direct jet flights between Hamilton and Christchurch are coming back, thanks to Air New Zealand. Starting this September, it'll be easier than ever to fly down to the South Island or welcome friends and whānau here in Ōtorohanga.
The news comes as Hamilton Airport amps up for its first international Jetstar flights to Sydney and the Gold Coast next month.
The trans-Tasman flights are expected to create around 60 new jobs to the airport and up to 300 more across the wider region.
Ōtorohanga District Council is a shareholder in the airport, alongside four other shareholders - Hamilton City, Waipā, Waikato and Matamata-Piako District Councils.
