Tanya joined Ōtorohanga District Council in 2019 and her final day will be 15 January 2027.
Ōtorohanga Mayor Rodney Dow says that while Council is very sorry to see her go, her decision to return south to be closer to whānau is one everyone understands and respects.
“We're going to miss Tanya. She's done a great job for our district, and we're really happy she has this opportunity to be closer to family. She has led with positivity, energy and commitment to our community. She cares deeply about people and building strong relationships.
“Tanya has built a strong team and helped create an organisation where people feel supported to do their best. Her leadership has helped shape the Council we are today, and we’re grateful for all she has contributed. While we are sad to see her go, we wish her all the best for her next chapter.”
Tanya says leaving a Council and community she loves has been an extremely difficult decision, but she could not pass up the opportunity to be close to whānau.
“It has been an absolute privilege to serve the communities of the Ōtorohanga District.
I am incredibly proud of what Council has achieved working alongside our communities. I am grateful for the relationships, friendships and experiences I will take with me.”

Council will provide further information about the Chief Executive recruitment and transition process in due course.
