Annual Report

The Annual Report of the Council is prepared in accordance with the provisions of the Local Government Act 2002 and Amendments and complies with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices.

Reports for the financial year ended 30th June are prepared by Council Staff and adopted by Council during October in each year.

Annual Plans

Annual Plans of Council are prepared in accordance with the provisions of the Local Government Act 2002 and Amendments and complies with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices.

A draft plan is prepared during April and is subject to a Public Consultation process during May preceding the commencement of the financial year on 1 July. Public submissions are requested and the Plan is adopted after consideration of the submissions.

The plan is prepared for significant activities and includes Goals, Objectives and Performance Measures. Information is also included on Rates, Funding Policies, Treasury Management Policies and Long Term Financial Strategies.

Long Term Council Community Plan (LTCCP)

Council is required to prepare a LTCCP and Funding Policy within every 3 year priod. This Strategy is generally prepared in line with the Annual Plan process and is next due for review before 30 June 2006.

Governance Statement

Contains information about how council communicates, cooperates and consults with the District's residents.

It outlines how Council makes decisions and promotes local democracy, by informing residents about ways they can be involved in the decision-making process.

A Governance Statement is a requirement of section 409 of the Local Government Act 2002.  Council is obliged to produce a new governance statement six months after each triennial election.
