Meet the candidates

Nominations have closed and you can read about the candidates below

HARPUR Richard

My principal residence is within the Kāwhia Subdivision of the Kāwhia Community Board area.

My name is Richard Harpur, I have owned a property in Kawhia for approx 17yrs, and have lived here for approx 4yrs. I lived in Tokoroa, spent 14 yrs as a BOT member. I was involved in my local rugby club for close to 50yrs as player, manager, coach, and committee member. I have decided to stand because I hope I can add value. I have a tendency to back the underdog and believe strongly in open, and honest democracy. I am not a fan of gossip and innuendo and if you can’t state your differences and concerns in an open, mature way then I am probably not the man to talk too. Kawhia is a wonderful place with a diverse population. My mother was born in Kawhia, my father in Te Kuiti. From my father I have links to Ngai Tahu. Thank you.

R Harpur

WHIU Lloyd Hohaia

My principal residence is within the Kāwhia Subdivision of the Kāwhia Community Board area.

I have been a resident of Kāwhia for the past 30 years. In that time, I have seen many changes take place and for the most part they have been positive for the community. However, there is still much more to be done to ensure we keep our uniqueness. As a potential new member of the KCB will ensure that that positivity is reflected in the issues we are confronted with and work towards to resolve for the benefit of our community.
