Council is required, in accordance with the Gambling Act 2003 and Racing Act 2003, to undertake a triennial review of the Class 4 Gambling Venue Policy and the Board Venue Policy with regards to the performance of the existing policies over the preceding three years and consideration of options for the next policy period.
An initial review of the gambling venues policy was presented to Council on 20 October 2020. Council resolved that consultation should be undertaken on a new policy that would allow an increase in the number of Class 4 Venues in the District. A draft Class 4 Venue policy was approved for consultation on 15 December 2020.
The Board Venue Policy 2010 was confirmed without change on 15 December 2020.
Following a public hearing held on 8 June Council resolved to retain a ‘sinking lid policy’ for Class 4 Venues. The Class 4 Venue Policy 2021 was adopted by Council on 15 June 2021.
