Long Term Plan 2018-28 Consultation

All councils in NZ are required to undertake planning to ensure that the services they provide are appropriate and sustainable, and the community must be given the opportunity to have their say on the important elements of this planning.

The main process to achieve these objectives is the preparation by each Council of a Long Term Plan (LTP). This process is conducted every three years, with the resultant Plan covering a ten year period, but with particular emphasis and detail on the next three years.

Consultation Document

The key matters and challenges within the LTP that we believe that the community should be aware of and may wish to give feedback on are summarised in an LTP Consultation Document (CD). The Consultation Document can be downloaded here [PDF, 1.1 MB]. Alternatively, a hard copy can be obtained from the Council Office at 17 Maniapoto St, Otorohanga and the public libraries in Otorohanga and Kawhia.

Key Issues we are consulting on

Growth Focus

With potential major new government and commercial projects in the district a Council funded subdivision in Otorohanga continues to be proposed to help provide opportunities for population growth.

Stop Bank Path in Otorohanga

Council is proposing to build a path along the full 3.1km length of the stopbanks around Otorohanga from Phillips Avenue to the Waipa Esplanade.

Strengthening Community and Iwi Engagement

Council is consulting on the investment of $80,000 per year to increase engagement with the community and particularly iwi.
