New Otorohanga District Council Chief Executive announced

Mayor of Otorohanga District Council Max Baxter is pleased to announce the appointment of Tanya Winter as the Council’s new chief executive.

Tanya has over 15 years of senior management experience, most recently at Otago Regional Council, where she was Director of Policy Planning and Resource Management. Prior to that she served as the Westland District Council Chief Executive.

“After a very robust hiring process, we’re extremely happy to have secured Tanya to lead our council,” says Mr Baxter.

“Across a number of roles Tanya has shown a great ability to bring fresh thinking and energy to deliver cost-effective community services.  Her track record for leading and developing councils and their teams is proven.”

Centrally placed and within easy driving distance of Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga and Taupo, Otorohanga is well situated to capitalise on the economic opportunities of it’s bigger neighbours, and Mayor Baxter sees this is an important goal for Tanya.

“We’re in a great position for growth. Tanya has a proven track record of leading councils like ours, and we want to ensure that we enable our communities and local businesses to take advantage of every opportunity Otorohanga has to offer.”

“It’s this commercial nous, and her proven ability to really connect with communities that won her the role over two other very strong candidates.”
