BUSINESS SUPPORT REGULATORY

-       Administrative support role

-       Process & deadline driven

From the peaceful seaside town of Kawhia in the west to beautiful Lake Arapuni on the eastern boundary, nestled against the slopes of Mt Pirongia, Otorohanga district has it all. The district is centrally located, only two hours from Auckland, Tauranga and New Plymouth.

If you are keen on the outdoors, underground adventure at the Waitomo Caves, fishing out of Kawhia Harbour, surfing at Raglan and the ski fields of Mount Ruapehu are all within easy reach. Otorohanga is the Kiwiana Capital of New Zealand, and is a vibrant town that enjoys a range of services, cafes and boutique shops.

Otorohanga district is booming with plenty of commercial and residential development underway. There has been recent investment in a new medical centre, a themed playground, an urban community walkway and a nationally significant infrastructure project is just commencing.

This level of activity is requiring an exceptional Administrator to provide support to the regulatory processes around planning, building control, food safety, public health, sale of alcohol and trade waste.

This position is all about process, process, process!

You will have responsibility for:

  • processing resource, building consent, and liquor licensing applications within established timeframes
  • reporting
  • maintaining databases of information
  • reconciling  accounts and resolving any issues that arise
  • liaising with our customers, the Otorohanga District community
  • maintaining the swimming pool register

This role is full-on with a continuous workload so you need to be someone who thrives under pressure and operates at your best when you’re busy. You must love organising, have an eye for detail, and have the ability to multi-task and prioritise to meet statutory deadlines.  You must also be IT savvy and highly competent with online systems.

Previous local government experience is not essential, however it would be useful if you have worked within a regulatory framework with structure, processes and rules to follow.
