An exciting growth period in our district is driving activity for the Building Control department, which has led to an opportunity for an experienced Building Control Officer to join the team.

STRATEGIC PLANNER

-        Newly created, senior role

The Strategic Planner role is a newly created, senior position, reporting to the Group Manager Corporate.  The mandate is to lead the Council’s strategic planning functions, including the Annual and Long Term Plan, bylaws and other policy documents.

You will also provide strategic direction on Council communications and branding, and adopt a proactive, forward-thinking approach to media engagement.

To excel in this role, you will have:

 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification
  • Experience in local government or a similarly scaled, complex organisation
  • Ability to lead, coordinate and manage projects at a strategic level
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with a cooperative and inclusive approach to building and maintaining effective relationships
  • Excellent written, verbal and aural communication skills with the ability to present to a variety of audiences confidently, clearly and comfortably
  • The courage to challenge the status quo, and a commitment to consider new ways of doing things
