COVID-19 Service Information under Alert Level 2

Council Office

The Council Office will open on Monday 18 May 2020. Opening hours will be 9am - 4pm until further notice. 

There will be a limited number of visitors permitted in the Council building observing physical distancing at all times.

Refuse and Recycling Services

Kerbside collections

All kerbside collections will return to normal on the 18th of May, Kāwhia, Monday the 18th and Ōtorohanga, Wednesday the 20th, with collection of all recycling being resumed as per normal. Please remember to wash all your recycling and place neatly in your recycling crate. Cardboard and paper are to bundle together and placed  neatly beside your crate.   Please remember any recycling that is not presented in a clean and tidy manner will go straight into land fill.

Litter bins

  • Street litter bins will continue to be monitored and emptied

 

Recycling Centres

Recycling centres in Ōtorohanga and Kāwhia will return to normal operating hours and operating on Friday the 15th of May,  Please follow the instructions at the gate before entering the facilities. 

All Rural Recycling centres will return to normal operations from the Monday the 18th of May.

 

Swimming Pool

The Swimming Pool and Gym Complex will open on Thursday 14 May under Alert Level 2 with strict rules and guidelines on physical distancing, personal hygiene and contact tracing.

Please follow instructions given by CLM employees upon entry.

Opening times will remain the same. 6am to 8pm weekdays and 6am to 6pm at weekends.

 

Libraries

Under Alert Level 2 the Ōtorohanga and Kāwhia Libraries will open.

Thursday 14 May

Book returns slots open at Ōtorohanga and Kāwhia libraries. 

You do not need to return your books immediately - issue periods have been extended until 30 June.

 

Monday 18 May

Ōtorohanga Library re-opens for normal hours.

Patrons may browse and borrow books.

Numbers entering the building will be limited and visitors are required to complete a contact register.

Do not come into the library if anyone in your family has been unwell.

Patrons will be limited to a 30-minute time frame per visit.

 

Tuesday 19 May

Kāwhia Library re-opens for normal hours.

Numbers entering the building will be limited and visitors are required to complete a contact register.

Do not come into the library if anyone in your family has been unwell.

Patrons will be limited to a 15-minute time frame per visit.

Free public wi-fi has been switched back on at both Libraries.

 

 Public Toilets

All public toilets will be open under Alert Level 2.

Please remember to use good hygiene,wash your hands and use physical distancing when using public toilets.

 

Playgrounds

Under Alert Level 2 all Playgrounds will open.

Please remember to use social distancing when using all public facilities.

Lawn Mowing and Gardening

Under Alert Level 2, Council lawns and garden contractors will resume normal operations in both Ōtorohanga and Kāwhia.

Cemeteries 

Under Alert Level 2 the Ōtorohanga and Kāwhia Cemeteries are open to the public.

Water Services

Water and wastewater services will continue as per normal however, if you have any urgent issues please call Ricardo Tubilla on 07 873 4376

 

Roading

All routine road maintenance activities will resume, and these will include road side mowing and vegetation control, along with grading of unsealed roads. If any safety issues are seen please let us know via email, Facebook or Report an Issue

Rates

Rates processing will continue as normal during this time. In addition to payment in person, there are multiple ways to make a payment online. If you would like specific information about your account please email us at info@otodc.govt.nz or call us on 07 873 4000.

 

Council / Community Board Meetings

Council is currently holding meetings and workshops using electronic meeting technology. When it is able physical meetings will be held with appropriate physical distancing and hygiene requirements.

Wednesday 3 June 2020 – Ōtorohanga Community Board meeting commencing at 4pm
