Leadership at Otorohanga District Council (ODC) is changing hands.
Chief executive David Hall has accepted the CEO position at South Waikato District Council. Current finance and administration manager John Pevreal takes over the CEO role in September.
Mr Hall has worked with ODC since 1999, having previously being employed in the Matamata-Piako and Kawerau districts.
Mr Pevreal has worked for council since 1973, and among other positions, has held that of finance and administration manager for the past 16 years.
Mayor Dale Williams announced Mr Pevreal's appointment to council staff last week.
"I can tell by everyone's reaction that this decision is a popular one, and it certainly is among council as well," said Mr Williams.
"John has been with council since 1973, so he has just about finished his apprenticeship.
"I am very excited, and really quite honoured to have received this position," said Mr Pevreal. Mr Hall said he was looking forward to facing new challenges with South Waikato District Council, based in Tokoroa.
Mr Pevreal has a two-year contract as chief executive, with a review at the end of that period.
