TV fame for Kiwiana town

Wiki the Kiwi and Ms Marmite are among Otorohanga's advocates when the town features on TVNZ's breakfast show on Friday.
Breakfast journalist Melissa Davies visited Otorohanga last Wednesday to film a piece on the town, which will act as a promotion for Saturday's Kiwiana Festival.
During filming Ms Davies visited local tourist attraction Otorohanga Kiwi House and interviewed mayor Dale Williams and members of Project Kiwiana.
A morning tea was held at the council chambers, where Project Kiwiana members presented Mr Williams with unique Kiwiana themed mayoral chains.
Project Kiwiana member Bev Moloney said the group wanted to present Mr Williams with chains that were "tasteful and that he would be proud to wear".
"No one else will have chains like this," said Mrs Moloney.
The chains, which feature paua shell and New Zealand pins, were specially created for Mr Williams by Project Kiwiana consultant David Walmsley.
The lack of official mayoral chains has been an ongoing joke for Mr Williams, who was presented with an old motorcycle chain and string of preserving jar lids after
being elected as mayor in October 2004.
Breakfast screens on TV One from 7am-9am weekdays.
