FURTHER NOTICE OF ELECTION TO FILL EXTRAORDINARY VACANCY
VACANCY MEMBER - KAWHIA COMMUNITY SUBDIVISION OF THE KAWHIA COMMUNITY BOARD
I hereby give notice under section 65 of the Local Electoral Act 2001 that the following persons have been duly nominated as candidates for:
MEMBERS OF THE KAWHIA SUBDIVISION OF THE KAWHIA COMMUNITY BOARD

There being more candidates than there are vacancies to be filled, elections will be held between the listed candidates, under the First Past the Post electoral system by postal vote, conducted over the period commencing 8 am on Tuesday 6 May to 12 noon on Wednesday 28 May 2008.
Voting Period
Voting documents will be sent out to all qualified electors between Tuesday 6 May and Monday 12 May 2008.
All returned voting documents must be received by the Electoral Officer no later than 12 noon on Wednesday 28 May 2008.
Early Processing of Returned Voting Documents
The Otorohanga District Council has resolved pursuant to section 79 of the Local Electoral Act 2001 that the returned voting documents will be processed progressively on return, throughout the three week voting period.
Council has also resolved that the candidates’ names will be in alphabetical order of Surname on the voting documents.
Electoral Roll
Any person can apply to the Electoral Officer to enroll as an elector right up to and including Tuesday 27 May 2008 (the day before voting).
Special Voting Facilities
Special voting facilities will be available during the period Tuesday 6 May 2008 and noon Wednesday 28 May 2008 (both dates inclusive) from the Council Office, 17 Maniapoto Street, Otorohanga between the hours of 8.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday. On election day, Wednesday 28 May 2008, the booth will be open from 8 am to 12 noon.
Special votes may be claimed by:
· Electors who have lost, spoilt or destroyed their ordinary voting documents which they have received in the post.
· Persons who have applied to be enrolled but who have not received their ordinary voting documents in the post.
