We provide pensioner housing:
to provide accommodation for the elderly that is affordable, and to ensure the activity is self supporting. |
How this service is provided:
Council owns and operates elderly persons housing, comprising 28 units, 22 in Otorohanga and 6 at Kawhia.
OTOROHANGA
Services Provided
1. 15 bed-sitter (single) and 7 double (separate bedroom) units
2. All units have off-street parking
3. Lawns are maintained, outdoor lighting is provided, a refuse skip is located at each complex
4. Smoke alarms are installed (and maintained by Council) in every unit
The occupancy rate is usually around 95%. The units are available to those who can demonstrate limited financial resources and can live independently.
Monitoring the Service
Annual inspection of all units, to ascertain maintenance requirements and tenant feedback.
Cost
Rentals are reviewed annually and are, as from 1 July 2005 -
$58.00 per week (single unit)
$83.50 per week (double unit)
The rentals are set to cover costs and require no ratepayer input.
KAWHIA
Services Provided
1. 6 x 1 bedroom units
2. All units have off-street parking
3. Lawns are maintained
4. Smoke alarms are to be installed ( and maintained by Council) in all units
The occupancy rate is usually around 95%. The units are available to those who can demonstrate limited financial resources and can live independently.

Cost

$78.00 per week (single person)
$100.00 per week (couple)
The rentals are set to cover costs and require no ratepayer input.
