The Council is responsible, under the Civil Defence Act 2002, to take steps to provide effective Civil Defence measures for the people of the District.
The role of Civil Defence is to educate and assist people to be prepared in an emergency.
In a time of emergency the Civil Defence Headquarters will be located at the Otorohanga District Council and manned by Council staff.

Every home should have a Survival Kit ready and easily accessible so you are prepared in an emergency. In the event of an emergency listen to the radio for advice and information.
